the USE flag is called 'truetype', not 'freetype'

from use.desc:
use.desc:truetype - Adds support for FreeType and/or FreeType2 fonts

please fix the package and remove the entry in use.local.desc

Its way to late for me to think straight now, but have a look at bug #74869

Is that basically what you mean?
