In /etc/ntpd.conf, the default is to uses constraints from "https://www.google.com". Can the default be changed to "https://gentoo.org" as to avoid pinging some GAFAM each time it is updating?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =net-misc/openntpd-6.2_p3-r2
2. optionally dispatch-conf
3. grep google /etc/ntpd.conf
Actual Results:
Yield some match

Expected Results:
Yield no match

I think the infrastructure behind www.google.com is a bit more extensive than that of www.gentoo.org, which is why openbsd uses it as a default. No matter where in the world you are you're likely to have a short hop to a reliable google farm.

It's a default, you can always change it. I'm not sure what you're talking about regarding it switching back to google on every upgrade? The config file should be under CONFIG_PROTECT purview, it won't be overwritten unless you do it yourself...

Isn't Google banned in China?

Hum, it seems that now constraints with google are commented by default.

No GAFAM anymore without user interaction, that's good. Closing this.
