Description Matthew Sutton 2004-12-22 21:19:35 UTC
I make changes to the iptables firewall through the webmin interface.
When i go to apply those changes webmin reverts iptables to the state before the chnages and erases all the new rules I just made. If I make the changes then go to a console and type in /etc/init.d/iptables reload the changes are made and kept.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Make changes to the iptables firewall via webmin
2.apply your new changes using the "apply configuration"

Actual Results:
The changes are erased and webmin applies the iptables rules from before the edit.

Expected Results:
Applied the changes to the firewall

closing due to lack of response

Sorry for the late response. I should have closed this bug a while back. What it was in the /etc/init.d/iptables script there is an option to save before stopping which is on by default. So when you pressed apply changes in webmin the script overwrote the changes made with the one's already loaded. Commenting out the line in /etc/init.d/iptables which saves the rules before stopping fixed this. It had nothing to do with webmin.
