Description Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-20 06:43:21 UTC
In an e-mail I got by Berno Loewer:

"""
there is some error in the installation handbook for Gentoo 2004.3
(the error is based on an error in the x86-universal LiveCD (don't
know if this is true for the other CDs):

The handbook and the CD say "- nokeymap disables keymap selection
for non-us keyboard layouts" (Chapter 2.c. Download, Burn and Boot a
Gentoo LiveCD) which would suggest that leaving out this parameter
would leave the keyboard layout selection enabled.

This is wrong. Without parameters there is no keyboard layout selection.

There is a parameter called "dokeymap" which enables keboard layout
selection (like with the 2004.2-CDs).

I found this when booting the CD for intallation (i use the german
keyboard layout...).

It would be good to integrate a hint on that into the gentoo
documentation.

releng team, is this valid? If so, please hand us the dokeymap line from the LiveCD so we can adjust the handbook. If not, mark as INVALID.
Comment 2 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-26 07:09:19 UTC
The dokeymap is now default. This is INVALID. I gave you the exact line from the LiveCD for a reason, keymap selection is default and we even have new documentation in Chapter 2.c. "If you are installing Gentoo on a system with a non-US keyboard, make sure you press F2 to switch to verbose mode and follow the prompt."
