the dependancies on bmp website say nothing about libxml, so if there is some reason for keeping it that i am unaware of I suggest removing the dependancy on libxml for beep-media-player

forgot to add - it compiled fine forcing it with libxml unmerged

You are right, it only depends on libxml2 (indirectly, for example through libglade). I'm not sure how that got in there, I have removed this dependency in the -r1 ebuild.
