Description rick vernam 2020-09-08 17:21:38 UTC
Text copied from outside Chromium will not paste into any chromium input field: url field, webpage text field, settings fields, etc.

Text copied from within Chromium will, however, properly propogate to the system copy/paste buffer. So, for example, a URL or text form a webpage can be copied from within Chromium and will paste into any other system application.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Copy text from any source other than chromium
2. Paste into any chromium text input (url bar, webpage input, etc)

Actual Results:
Text other than what was copied in step (1) is pasted.

Expected Results:
Text that was copied in step (1) is pasted.

System is amd64, generally gentoo stable channel.
- frameworks 5.73
- plasma 5.19
- kde-release-service 20.08
- chromium 85.0.4183.83

It is sad to read that you have problems with the software. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis.
We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems.

I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3].
I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4].
Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an specific error in an ebuild or any gentoo related product.
