Description Steven Wagner 2004-12-09 15:42:25 UTC
This tiff file was generated by hylafax. When I try and convert it to a pdf using 'convert' from imagemagick...i get the following error.

convert: fax000000125.tif: TIFF directory is missing required "StripOffsets" field..
convert: missing an image filename `test4.pdf'.

This website lists the problem as following:
http://www.remotesensing.org/libtiff/man/TIFFReadDirectory.3t.html

TIFF directory is missing required "StripByteCounts" field. The image has multiple strips, but is missing the tag that specifies the size of each strip of data. There is no way for the library to recover from this error.

This appears to be related to libtiff.

I am running...
[ebuild R ] net-misc/hylafax-4.2.0-r1 -faxonly +jpeg +pam 0 kB
[ebuild R ] media-libs/tiff-3.7.0 0 kB

Hmm, I don't see any likely bugs on the Hylafax bugs page, nor anything obvious
on the tiff bugs page either. First, are you sure Imagemagick was built against
the same tiff version as Hylafax (ie, both used tiff 3.7.0)? Try re-emerging all
three packages (first tiff, then hylafax and imagemagick).

If so, then I guess I'll submit a bug to the tiff dudes; can you send me an
example tiff file that causes the problem? Thanks...
