nt_linux root # ls -al /var/db/webapps/squirrelmail/1.4.3a-r2/
total 12
drwxr-xr-x  2 root root 4096 Dec  6 15:45 .
drwxr-xr-x  3 root root 4096 Dec  1 04:43 ..
-rw-r--r--  1 root root    0 Dec  6 15:43 .keep
-----w--w-  1  420 root   52 Dec  6 15:45 installs

notice the 420 user.. that's not a real user on my system, and i'm pretty sure webapp-config created it.  squirrelmail was installed with webapp-config -I -h localhost -d /mail squirrelmail 1.4.3a-r2

1. webapp-config version?
2. Please try with 1.4.4-r1 and latest webapp-config. Please reopen if problem
persists.
