Description qube99 2002-08-31 13:00:18 UTC
dc-gui has a known bug where "- no right mouse event with qt3.0.5" --
http://dc.ketelhot.de/bugs.php

So, dc-gui needs to compile with qt >=3 <=3.05..and since some apps require
qt3.0.5, I think that means the requirement for a new slot.

It'd be a good idea, anyways, considering all the bugs with qt 3.0.4+ that are
still being resolved. Having a stable and unstable 3.x slot line wouldn't be a
bad idea. Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea for most libraries, especially
the second there are known issues.

No, I don't think so. This is a bug in dc-gui, not in qt. And I don't know about any other app that requires <qt-3.0.5. As for bugs with >=qt-3.0.4, I'm not expiriencing any myself but I know of several fixed in 3.0.4 and 3.0.5, which after all are mostly bugfix releases. Of course this is a subjective view since different bugs hit diferent people, but overall every new qt version fixed a lot more bugs than it introduced. Besides, the upgrade path to a 2-slot setup would be prohibitively ugly, especially since portage doesn't allow slot-based dep ranges yet. Short version: this is a bug in dc-gui and should be fixed by the upstream author, especially since he knows about it.

Unless you propose that I mask dc-gui because of this, three's nothing I can
do. Sorry.
