CONFIG_ACPI_WMI and CONFIG_WMI_BMOF need to be enabled in the kernel. It would be nice if the ebuild checked for this.

Stumbled across this as well, but found a solution:

You need to enable CONFIG_ACPI_WMI in your kernel.

I modified it to Kernel 5.14.0:
