Looking in the bugs for FLAC, I found problems getting the flac patch to apply and compile cleanly.  I was looking into the problem a bit more, and lo and behold, bmp supports a lossless codec, TTA.  There is a patch posted on both http://www.sosdg.org/~larne/w/BMP_Homepage and
http://www.true-audio.com/

for both a plugin and source patching.

I would like to see TTA support included in beep if at all possible.  I'll try and help in any way I can :-D.  BTW, TTA seems to be slightly better than FLAC at compressing, and about equal to Monkey's Audio.
