Patch to try
mutter already has a REQUIRED_USE="test? ( wayland )", but didn't pull in gtk+[wayland] with USE=wayland. However mutter itself doesn't use gtk+[wayland], just the test does.
Before adding a full test dep on gtk+[wayland], please try this patch with gtk+[-wayland] on the machine first instead. It should fix the compile issue, but does it pass tests with it too?
