when upgrading to latest FF emerge fails with:
UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character '\xf6' in position 80: ordinal not in range(128)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -uf firefox
2.
3.


Expected Results:  
emerge without problems

I founnd old entries about a similar bug back in 2016, this was locale related, but obviously this is still active - at least under my env

You need python3.7 or newer for the build, and recent updates to the ebuild should be enforcing that, as to not fail like this. See the other bug for details.

ah sorry, did no find this under related bugs for www-client/firefox (on packages.gentoo.org), strange.
BTW python 3.7 is not enforced. will read the original thread of the bug

It should be enforced by now. But this was done yesterday without a revision bump - maybe you don't have it in your sync yet. 3.6 was removed from PYTHON_COMPAT.
