Version 1.7.0 is available upstream. Please consider updating!
It seems that version 1.7.0 is available upstream, while the latest version in the Gentoo tree is 1.6.1.

libheif 1.7.0 adds support AVIF image format.
This is a significant improvement as we can have AVIF support in Gentoo finally.

We have media-libs/libavif but it is only in GURU overlay.
