Thanks for reminding. I am on it. Any timeline? (In reply to Thomas Beierlein from comment #1) > Any timeline? No particular timeline. But those bugs with at least maintainer responses go to the end of the removal queue ;) (In reply to Andreas Sturmlechner from comment #2) > (In reply to Thomas Beierlein from comment #1) > > Any timeline? > No particular timeline. But those bugs with at least maintainer responses go > to the end of the removal queue ;) Thanks. I'll see how it goes. Maybe the upstream would benefit from a publicly accessible repository or is it just me that I can't find it... see also $URL to give them another nudge. Status report: Including linsmith there are now only 5 packages left on the tracker of which 3 have existing patches or were fixed in upstream repository and are only pending maintainer action. I did some more digging in last days. At the moment the situation looks like follows: - It seems that porting it away from libgnomeui is doable with not so much effort. But as blockers show the package should be also ported away from libgnome2 which is much more to do. - In January author claimed he had a GTK3 port nearly ready with some outstanding bugs. - Debian has dropped the package in meantime as deadline for Debian buster was due and libgnomeui was dropped in that release completely. - I send just another mail to the author asking for the actual state. Answer is outstanding. As I will be away the next three weeks I suggest to wait until then. If no answer from author arrives in that time we should last rite the package (and maybe reintroduce it after a gtk3 release). Got feedback from package author: "Hi Thomas. There actually is a non-gnomeui version, but I have been chasing a strange bug which doesn't show debugging but is very present in the final version. I'll try to get it out soon. Thanks for the warning. John " So let us see how it goes. ping. (In reply to Michał Górny from comment #7) > ping. Back from holiday there were no news from package author. It makes no sense to wait any longer. We should last rite the package and tell author about the 30 days dead line. Last rite sent: # Thomas Beierlein <tomjbe@gentoo.org> (2020-09-09) # Depends on obsolete gnome-base/libgnomeui. # Upstream promised to have a better version # for nearly a year now, but no release in sight. # Masked for removal in 30 days. sci-electronics/linsmith The bug has been closed via the following commit(s): https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=4782ebcebd439f7cb2baf372ac7edf45761baaa8 commit 4782ebcebd439f7cb2baf372ac7edf45761baaa8 Author: Thomas Beierlein <tomjbe@gentoo.org> AuthorDate: 2020-10-07 14:55:54 +0000 Commit: Thomas Beierlein <tomjbe@gentoo.org> CommitDate: 2020-10-07 15:02:02 +0000 sci-electronics/linsmith: remove last rited package Closes: https://bugs.gentoo.org/726828 Signed-off-by: Thomas Beierlein <tomjbe@gentoo.org> profiles/package.mask | 7 --- sci-electronics/linsmith/Manifest | 2 - .../linsmith/files/linsmith-datafiles.patch | 30 ---------- .../linsmith/linsmith-0.99.30-r1.ebuild | 67 --------------------- sci-electronics/linsmith/linsmith-0.99.31.ebuild | 70 ---------------------- sci-electronics/linsmith/metadata.xml | 15 ----- 6 files changed, 191 deletions(-) |
