Thank you for the report. We need to have all information at hand before ticket assignment. That is why I ask you to * attach the logs and * paste the emerge info as described on https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Attach_the_logs_to_the_bug_ticket Please reopen this ticket (Status:UNCONFIRMED) afterwards. A build.log file with the error you described would be quite handy especially since you seem to have this problem on amd64 hardware while bug #683148 did not affect amd64. Generally I agree. We should get this "--jobs 1" into waf-utils.eclass to prevent more packages of suffering from this problem. Created attachment 643022 [details]
talloc-2.3.1: build.log
No error is raised since the configure phase just hangs on the configure phase while running waf configure (while checking `setproctitle`, and this is weirdly reproducible).
On another machine where this package is installed the configure phase just runs fine, and the use flags are identical. Both machines differ by the number of cores and therefore the number of waf threads, but I cannot point any difference that would help to explain the issue reported here.
I have the same error. configure fails on Checking for res_search in resolv : or Checking for header libintl.h probably this is random. I wanted to install samba on ~arm64. when I got to sys-libs/talloc-2.3.1 it failed to configure. i tried several times even setting MAKEOPTS="-j1" . then i gave an emerge --depclean, it deleted all the packages (samba dependencies) it had compiled so far and i gave emerge samba again, and here's the surprise, the compilation came to an end. Did it change the order in which the dependencies were compiled? I don't know, I haven't checked... on ~amd64 architecture i had no problem. |
