Description nvaert1986 2020-05-11 12:53:31 UTC
For some reason the copy/paste functionality (both using CTRL+C / CTRL+V or right clicking copy and right clicking paste) isn't always registered correctly. Initially I thought it was my keyboard not registering the key combinations correctly, but after testing another keyboard, reading and searching there seems to be a bug of some sort.

Somteimes I need to perform the action 2 - 3x before it's registered.

It seems similar to bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1852183 and https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/issues/878.

 loginctl show-session $(awk '/tty/ {print $1}' <(loginctl)) -p Type | awk -F= '{print $2}' reports x11

I'm running gnome-3.34.4 from portage (synced on 11-May-2020).

I've installed XFCE quickly and switched to lightdm. When using XFCE with lightdm the copy / paste functionality works without a problem. On my main computer I use KDE and do not experience this problem either, so it's likely to be gnome related.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any application
2. Type some text and select it
3. Right click and press copy
4. Right click and press paste
Actual Results:
The data isn't always copied and / or pasted.

Expected Results:
The data should be copied and pasted.

It is sad to read that you have problems with the software. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis.
We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems.

I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3].
I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4].
Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an specific error in an ebuild or any gentoo related product.
