Bug 72074

Summary: desklet-psidisplays - diskinfo displays incorrect disk space
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Francis Barton <fbarton>
Component: [OLD] GNOMEAssignee: Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) <obz>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: normal
Priority: High
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Whiteboard:
Package list:
Runtime testing required: ---

Description Francis Barton 2004-11-22 07:47:05 UTC
In /usr/share/gdesklets/Displays/desklet-psidisplays/diskinfo.display, sensor:id=disk, using module Disk, reports incorrect values for disk:free, disk:used and disk:total.

For example on my / partition, df -H gives :
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda2 793M 683M 70M 91% /

But my diskinfo desklet shows:
/: 86%
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(81.38M/94.49M)

So the amount of (total|used) space shown is incorrect and the percentage used is also incorrect.

Also I can show you:

gentoo ~ # grep hda2 /proc/diskstats
   3 2 hda2 28010 348666 93937 751496

although this doesn't mean much to me!

I have 4 diskinfo desklets running for different partitions, and none of them is correct. I have only talked about my / partition here for the sake of simplicity.

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1.run gdesklets
2.from nautilus, click on /usr/share/gdesklets/Displays/desklet-psidisplays/diskinfo.display icon (i have this filetype associated with gdesklets)
3.position diskinfo desklet on desktop

Actual Results:
disk info stats are incorrect

Expected Results:
display accurate diskinfo stats

version is desklet-psidisplays-20040420
core is gdesklets-core-0.26.2

I guess it is probably something in /usr/share/gdesklets/Sensors/Disk/__init__.py ???
