This is frustrating. It's disappeared because a new version came out.

Not sure why it has disappeared from the mirrors. I don't know what the canonical solution to situations like this is... distfiles or something in a devspace?
Comment 2 Anton Bolshakov 2020-04-26 03:07:27 UTC
FYI, I asked the upstream if they could keep old versions, but they said "no" pointing to the following:

Thanks for this! I wonder if we should just dump stable for this, and possibly go just live (although this is the nuclear option).

Ugh. This is not practical for people who need to depend on libraries. :/
Comment 4 Anton Bolshakov 2020-04-26 03:28:37 UTC
yes, it's important to stay on "stable" version. Please mirror it to your own devspace or any other appropriate place

media-plugins/live: new source for removed tarball (one-off)

Unfortunately, upstream *aggressively* purge old releases.
They are removed as soon as a new version is made available.

Mirror them in my own distfiles directory to allow
our mirroring system to pick it up, which it did not have
time to do in the past.

This should be a one-off, or at least infrequent,
if we catch the bump a while before a new one comes out.

Can you point SRC_URI to a mirror, like this one:
https://download.videolan.org/contrib/live555/

You can still verify checksum from the official website before bumping a new version.
