Description John Bobbertson 2020-04-18 19:58:37 UTC
I've recently updated my gentoo system and found elogind replacing consolekit2. I've read the news and it sounds like a reasonable thing to do given pm-utils deprecation. However my laptop which has never used any kind of suspend/hibernate is doing so by default when I close the lid.

I use LUKS for FDE and don't use suspend to ram/disk at all so elogind doing so without explicit configuration is a problem.

I'm not even sure if its trying to suspend to ram or disk since I never configured it. Is this a bug or is there proper documentation on how to enable/disable/configure this feature? The wiki about it only mentioned how to use loginctl to reboot from regular user in passing and nothing more.

That is really bad, but we need much more information.
The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis.
We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems.

I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3].
I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4].
Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an specific error in an ebuild or any gentoo related product.
