Description Joseph Wenninger 2004-11-19 12:10:35 UTC
If I use the mirrorselect in automatic mode from the universal image (2004.2 x86 or 2004.3 amd64) and use mirrorselect as told in the documentation, it complains about not being able to find portageq (path issue ?) and not being able to support ipv6. It continues running and when it has finished the test datablocks it downloads are dumped into the make.conf file too

Reproducible: Always

Are you using the online handbook or the one on the CD?

Also, what command are you using, exactly?

Apparently missing some information :)

Marking as NEEDINFO; Joseph, just reopen the bug.

I just meet with this bug.

livecd root # mirrorselect -a -s4 -o >> /mnt/gentoo/etc/make.con
Downloading a list of mirrors...
/usr/sbin/mirrorselect: line 1: portageq: command not found
Downloading 100k segments from 159 server(s)
Sorting by speedhttp://mirror.uni-c.dk/gentoo/
Cleaning temporary files
livecd root # ls -l /mnt/gentoo/etc/make.con
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13735357 Dec 20 22:42 /mnt/gentoo/etc/make.con
livecd root #

when i less /mnt/gentoo/etc/make.con, at first lines i see:
Netselect is currently unable to handle ipv6, changing to Deep Test
# $<E4><FE><A4>^Yl<C9>$<A7>1]<F8><80>S^KM<8D><<<D6><DB><EE><B6><AC><83>%~*<E3>c

And only at last line i see GENTOO_MIRROR

I meet this bug at 2004.3 stage2.

Please set to unresolved.
