Description Joe Murawski 2004-11-18 15:02:52 UTC
I attempted to emerge Koffice.
Emerge failed when it attempts to build kde-base/kdelibs-3.3.1

I get the following error

I attempted to emerge libmad by itself and then emerge koffice again but the same error arouse.

My /var/tmp/portage resided in another directory that i set up within my system
for example /home/store/tmp/portage

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -va koffice
2.enter in yes
3.

Expected Results:
emerge koffice cleanly with no errors

I attempted to find the bug within the database.
I did not find it
This is my first time using bugzilla and i am very greatful for all the work you
guys do! GOOD LUCK!

`emerge libtool libmad`, remove your temporary files in /home/store/tmp/portage/ and try it again. Please drop a note, if that worked. I'm still unsure, what's causing this problem. If that did not work, do
`find /usr/lib -iname "*\.la" -exec sed -i -r -e "s:/var/tmp/portage/.*/image/::g" '{}' \;` and remove your temp files again. Afterwards everything should work fine.
Comment 2 Joe Murawski 2004-11-30 14:48:05 UTC
I tried both

`emerge libtool libmad`, remove your temporary files in /home/store/tmp/portage/ and try it again. Please drop a note, if that worked. I'm still unsure, what's causing this problem. If that did not work, do
`find /usr/lib -iname "*\.la" -exec sed -i -r -e "s:/var/tmp/portage/.*/image/::g" '{}' \;` and remove your temp files again. Afterwards everything should work fine.

and i still recieve the:

/bin/sh ../../libtool --silent --mode=link --tag=CXX g++  -Wnon-virtual-dtor -Wno-long-long -Wundef -ansi -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE -Wcast-align -Wconversion -Wchar-subscripts -Wall -W -Wpointer-arith -Wwrite-strings -DNDEBUG -DNO_DEBUG -O2 -mcpu=pentium2 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -Wformat-security -Wmissing-format-attribute -fno-exceptions -fno-check-new -fno-common  -DQT_CLEAN_NAMESPACE -DQT_NO_ASCII_CAST -DQT_NO_STL -DQT_NO_COMPAT -DQT_NO_TRANSLATION    -o libartskde.la -rpath /usr/kde/3.3/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -L/usr/qt/3/lib -L/usr/kde/3.3/lib  -no-undefined -Wl,--no-undefined -Wl,--allow-shlib-undefined -version-info 3:0:2 artskde.lo kioinputstream_impl.lo kplayobject.lo kplayobjectfactory.lo kartsfloatwatch.lo kartsdispatcher.lo kaudiorecordstream.lo kaudioplaystream.lo kartsserver.lo kdatarequest_impl.lo kaudioconverter.lo kvideowidget.lo kplayobjectcreator.lo kaudiomanagerplay.lo ../../kio/libkio.la -lqtmcop -lsoundserver_idl

So told fix did not solve problem i still cannot emerge koffice

Comment 3 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-01 10:24:03 UTC
Most likely you've got some ???.la file in /usr/lib that is invalidly referencing /var/tmp/portage/.../???.la. Some grepping there may help.
Comment 4 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-07 07:42:57 UTC
Joe: Is this still a problem? If yes, does /usr/lib/libmad.la exist? What's its content, if so?
Comment 5 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-25 05:59:11 UTC
No feedback.
