Description cazzantonio 2004-11-14 05:33:32 UTC
I installed gnome 2.8.0-r1 and after an emerge sync && emerge -vDu world emerge tries to downgrade gst-plugins from version 0.8.5-r1 to 0.8.2. doing again an emerge -pvDu world tries to upgrade it again to 0.8.5-r1 and again to downgrade the next time...
The problem is that the new gst-plugins reqires newer version of its plugins and a solution is to unmask the following packages (in /etc/portage/package.keywords)
=media-plugins/gst-plugins-vorbis-0.8.5 ~x86
=media-plugins/gst-plugins-ogg-0.8.5 ~x86
=media-plugins/gst-plugins-flac-0.8.5 ~x86
=media-plugins/gst-plugins-mad-0.8.5 ~x86

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -pvDu world
2.emerge -vDu world
3.emerge -pvDu world
again and again...
Actual Results:
emerge tries to downgrade gst-plugins from version 0.8.5-r1 to 0.8.2. doing
again an emerge -pvDu world tries to upgrade it again to 0.8.5-r1 and again to
dowgrade the next time...

Expected Results:
upgrade gst-plugins or downgrade it, but only one of each! :-)
