still valid for sys-firmware/intel-microcode-20200508_p20200508 It's not a bug of this package. It's a feature of the new mount-boot eclass, see https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=2d90570e81469bf75b2d4a4275151e282632c18e. However, that functionality was removed because it didn't really work in latest portage anymore. tl;dr If you really want to do that, create your own wrapper which will mount and unmount /boot before/after calling emerge.
