Bug 70551 – Visualboyadvance OOMs with gcc-3.4.2

When i try to emerge visualboyadvance-1.7.2-r1, it OOMs during the compilation. I read the other bug that was similar to this, and tried changing my CXXFLAGS from "-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe -ftracer -fomit-frame-pointer" to just "-O2 -march=athlon-xp", but the OOM still occured. So i then changed them to just "-O0", and it still occured. 
I then changed from gcc-3.4.2 back to my gcc-3.3.4 profile, and tried again with the same sets of CXXFLAGS. Still no luck.
I tried all these with MAKEOPTS="-j1".
Same thing with USE="-mmx -gtk"
It always dies when trying to compile GBA.cpp

Reproducible: Always

OOMed when attempting to compile GBA.cpp

Expected Results:  
compiled cleanly

does  visualboyadvance-1.7.2 build for you?  Also, what's the ouput of the command "free"?
