This seems to be a non issue, feel free to change status if not so from the ebuild: einfo "Please notice that the config file location has changed from" einfo "/etc/kismet to /etc/" einfo "" einfo "For usage instructions please see" einfo "/usr/share/doc/${PF}/README.gz" let me please reopen that one. the config files include lists of AP/wlan card mac prefixes etc which don't have kismet specific names. If it was a single file like /etc/kismet.conf I think it's ok to have this file in /etc but since we have half a dozend files including those prefix lists etc, I don't think it's a good idea to throw them in /etc The /etc/ location was chosen since it's the package default location. Unless there is a clash with another application already in portage I really don't see the problem. no, i don't think the files collide with any other ebuild still, I think it's a bad idea to flood /etc with to many app specific files anyway, feel free to close the bug again Re-closing as INVALID. Just wanted to add a "vote" for a sysconfdir=/etc/kismet. As Jochen noted is it quite messy the way it is now. Actually, ap_manuf and client_manuf should probably go to /usr/share/kismet and the *.conf to /etc/kismet. Just because the original tar ball is a mess it doesn't mean that the software packaged for Gentoo should be, too :) This bug is closed as INVALID - and it will stay that way. I see no reason to divert from the package defaults. Let me give you some: - the package defaults are wrong - the package defaults do not fit gentoo - the package defaults are suboptimal there are so many things that get changed for gentoo, why not this one too? It still gives me the creeps each time I ls /etc and see the ap_list .. files fly by.. happy new year btw :) please reconsider this bug! |
