Comment 2 Matt Turner gentoo-dev 2019-11-27 16:58:02 UTC
floppym explained to me on IRC that this is caused by dev-python/pyxattr not understanding pathlib.

<floppym> | mattst88: The error is being generated because a PosixPath object is being passed to xattr.getxattr(). It doesn't expect a PosixPath, but rather an int
(probably a file descriptor), or a string (representing a path to a file).
<floppym> | pyxattr provides the xattr module.
<floppym> | The PosixPath object is being create by pathlib.Path() here: https://github.com/fonttools/fonttools/blob/4.0.1/Tests/t1Lib/t1Lib_test.py#L65
<floppym> | If pyxattr is not installed, this logic will be skipped: https://github.com/fonttools/fonttools/blob/4.0.1/Lib/fontTools/misc/macCreatorType.py#L20

I'd suggest ignoring this test failure.

It looks like pyxattr just grew support for pathlib two days ago: https://github.com/iustin/pyxattr/issues/20 and is available in the python3-only version 0.7.1.

Dropping blocker.
