Description Andre Hinrichs 2004-11-04 07:42:15 UTC
After doing an sync today portage told me to switch to another profile (2004.0).
So I did it. After that I did an 'emerge -p depclean' and saw that portage wanted
to delete several packages I need, e.g. slocate. I decided to just do an 'emerge slocate' to add slocate to the world file. Unfortunately the emerge failed:

>>> original instance of package unmerged safely.
groupmod: PAM authentication failed

!!! ERROR: sys-apps/slocate-2.7-r5 failed.
!!! Function pkg_postinst, Line 61, Exitcode 9
!!! Failed to create slocate group
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

!!! FAILED postinst: 1

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge sync
2.emerge slocate

Actual Results:
emerge slocate failes with PAM authentication failure

Expected Results:
emerge slocate should install without any errors
