Seems to work fine for me. Odd. I have an up-to-date and mostly stable system. Xsnow has worked in the past. There must be some critical difference in our systems. There is a new GTK+3 based version 3.0.7 now. Perhaps you can see if that fixes the problem for you. please test with 3.0.7 My apologies, I forgot to post the test results. 3.0.7 does not work at all. Invoking xsnow from a terminal window, the text message is: Xsnow-3.0.7 December 14th 2001 by Rick Jansen February 2020 by Willem Vermin Detected desktop session: xfce Your screen does not support transparency. Scenario: Use X11 for drawing snow in root window, no birds are possible. Snowing in window: 0x6c1 - "Xsnow-A" - depth: 24 - geom: 0 0 3840x1080 - alpha: 0 - exposures: 0 A "welcome" box appears on all screens, and allows changes to settings. It asserts that "If everything is OK, it is now snowing on your desktop" No snow, Santa, birds or anything else appears. I have just tried version 3.1.8 directly from source, and it works correctly in XFCE provided that the "Erase Method" is set to "Use exposures" in the "Settings" tab of the control panel. |
