On the plus side, upstream is on GitHub and still alive - last commit was pushed to master only 10 days ago! On the minus side, they haven't tagged any old releases there so either we use a Git snapshot instead (which would require backporting many later changes to Autoconf scripts) or simply use the tarball from mirror://gentoo for now and hope the next release - which by the way will use meson - comes soon.
