Description Sergey S. Starikoff 2019-10-30 10:42:40 UTC
After last update (xfce-base/thunar (1.8.9(0/3)@23.10.2019)) I was unpleased finding Thunar not started and failing to start at all.

Attempt to start it from terminal failed with the following error:
Failed to register: Timeout was reached

Google search shows such issue known for a time ago.

The particular workaround is to reset XFce4 session:
$ rm ~/.cache/sessions/xfce4-session-*

I suggest to note it in thunar post-install message.

What was the previous version you were using? I'm all for adding a note but I believe we should aim to make it as precise as possible.

This time for me it was:

1571849358:  ::: completed emerge (58 of 71) xfce-base/thunar-1.8.9 to /

But I've find mentioning of similiar issue for very different version of thunar.

It looks like some commmon profile compatibility issue: I see it on my another Gentoo installation.
