While writing ebuilds I noticed that the BDEPEND variable isn't highlighted like DEPEND or RDEPEND
I'm requesting to also highlight BDEPEND

Alright, upstream applied Jeroen's patch in their git repo. Do you guys desperately need this in a nano-4.5-r1 revbump or is it okay to wait for the next upstream nano release to have this incorporated?

Anyone who desperately needs it can surely edit the configuration locally.
