adds auto backups
My try at adding a basic backup facility to etc-update.
Works for me.
Backup renaming has been chosen to
- group all backups together
- group backups of the same file together
- be to see fast when a backup has been made
- minimize the possibility of name clashes
isnt this the point of `dispatch-conf` ? From the look of it, this seems likely, I just never heared of it before, maybe it should be mentioned in the output of emerge? Putting a hold on feature requests for portage as they are drowning out the bugs. Most of these features should be available in the next major version of portage. But for the time being, they are just drowning out the major bugs and delaying the next version's progress. Any bugs that contain patches and any bugs for etc-update or dispatch-conf can be reopened. Sorry, I'm just not good enough with bugzilla. ;) Closing due to old age, there are several alternatives to etc-update available. |
