Should this be -z,combreloc? LDFLAGS="-Wl, -z combreloc" and 'man gcc' so you can lose those ridiculous CFLAGS and 'man ld' so you can see what is expected in LDFLAGS bug invalid/user error and on a side note: stop overclocking -Wl,-z,combreloc your analysis is half wrong ... LDFLAGS="-z combreloc" is correct ... but shouldnt be used if people want to pass linker flags, they should add "-Wl,-z combreloc" to CFLAGS ... see Bug 65002 > your analysis is half wrong ...
that means that's half right (and that's good) ;-)
