2004.3 is not released and therefore unsupported yet. Are you using the -test CDs, if so, they are not supported. Also, if you are getting an "illegal instruction" error, then it sounds like you might have something wrong with your compiler. Without more information, there's nothing that I can do. Using test cd because 2004.2 cannot boot on my Award Bios and 2004.3 is the one to use. That's why. I discovered I might have downloaded the wrong archive too http://gentoo.mirror.sdv.fr/releases/x86/2004.2/stages/pentium3/stage2-pentium3-2004.2.tar.bz2 is a stage 2 archive I guess. And I was doing the process of a stage 1. Maybe that's the point and if so I do apologize. If not, as I'm able now to log via ssh to the machine now I'll be able to give you any information you need to help. Don't need to stop the machine ... But tomorrow because I'm not a machine need to idle my own processor for this night ;-/ No... the 2004.2-r1 was the one to use... the -test series CDs are tests from -releng, so they could be in any state of working or not... and we don't provide support for them due to their experimental nature. error was mine for the stage choose in mirrors2/ftp.gentoo.org/releases/x86/2004.2/stages/pentium3/stage2-pentium3-2004.2.tar.bz2 instead of mirrors2/ftp.gentoo.org/releases/x86/2004.2/stages/x86/stage1-x86-2004.2.tar.bz2. |
