Description Harris Landgarten 2004-10-28 11:11:41 UTC
glibc-2.3.4.20041021 still contains the same bugs as 2.3.4.20041006 regarding DNS. Computers in me local domain (landgarten.local) no longer resolve from programs ie:

$ host d8100
d8100.landgarten.local has address 192.168.1.2

$ ping d8100
ping: unknown host d8100

Internet domains resolve very slowly (10-15 seconds) unless cached by nscd. I am going back to 2.3.4.20040808-r1. This ebuild should be masked until this issue is resolved.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.see above
2.

Could this have anything to do with the use of the domain .local? I remember reading somewhere that MAC OSX has BSD related problems with .local domains. Could this glibc be inheriting some of those problems?
