ghex-2.8.1 is out and works fine (on my system, ~x86), and portage still only has 2.4.1, which was released a year ago...

ghex-2.8.1.ebuild

Some changes from 2.4.1 ebuild : updated depends and rdepends; in particular,
ghex now uses libbonoboui instead of libglade. Also, commented out
MAKEOPTS="${MAKEOPTS} -j1" because parallel building works fine for me.

already a bug on bumping ghex. Always best to add comments/votes to other bugs then opening new ones.
