If oyu know which env variable controls this (and maybe it is a rather generic variable) - then please tekll me this.
I'll add it to the tinderbox script, somewhere around here:

Hi Toralf, just to be sure: you're talking about this, right?

  │ └─make,12319 -j1 USE_THREAD=1 ...
  │   └─make,19347 -j 12 -C ./lapack-netlib lapackelib

Where it ignores the -j1 on the second line?

I'm not able to reproduce that with 0.3.9, and several relevant changes have been made to the build system between versions. Is it easy for you to check if the problem still exists in 0.3.9?
