SDDM distinguishes these just fine, so I'm ging to assume lightdm problem. It is to be solved in plasma-workspace after all, but also involves SDDM. Assigning back to KDE. Created attachment 581734 [details] emerge --info I've enabled wayland USE flag globally, and now in lightdm I see the following options: * Plasma * Plasma * others There is no way to tell which of two Plasmas is which. I propose /usr/share/xsessions/plasma.desktop and /usr/share/wayland-sessions/plasmawayland.desktop to have different strings, e.g. "Plasma (X11)" vs "Plasma (Wayland)", to make it possible to select the correct one.
