As far as I can tell, this is accurate. My opera-beta runs fine without gconf. If this were a new package, would we have any indication that gconf should be in the dependency list? Not only is gnome-base/gconf and unnecessary dependency, it also depends on EOL Python 2.x...

Personally, I solve this on every new update to opera by simply copying the official ebuild to my overlay and deleting the offending line, but I find this a bit tiresome...
Can we get this fixed, please?
