The 2.6.0 branch is the development branch. They state that "This development branch is not stable, may not even build or pass tests.", which is why I am not willing to package it. I'm in the process of getting 2.5.3 (latest stable released in january) into the main tree though, which is a thousand commits from 2.5.2. I'll close this bug in a few months if it's OK. Technically you can provide a live ebuild. Users can decide to run the dangerous code and help to fix the bugs. 2.6 got officially released (stable) On Oct 3, upstream released the new 2.6.0 version and shortly after that, on Oct 19, 2.6.1, a bugfix only release. See GitHub repository [0], as the taskwarrior website [1] does not have any news/blog entries for those releases. They also seem to now simply use the develop branch instead of a specific branch for dev versions, if that is of interest for a live ebuild. On another note, David Denoncin's "getting 2.5.3 into the main tree" process [2] seems to have gone well.
