Description Dirk Heinrichs 2004-10-21 05:02:26 UTC
Today I wondered why emerge -Duvp world wanted to downgrade my openoffice 1.1.2 to 1.1.1. The reasons are:

1) I have masked 1.1.3 because it won't build with gcc 3.4.x.
2) The ebuild for 1.1.2 has been removed from the portage tree.

I don't get the point here. Why is 1.1.2 removed while 1.1.1, 1.1.0 and even 1.0.3 are still there?

Please put 1.1.2 back into portage.

Reproducible: Always

It's removed because of a security issue afaik, workaround: use gcc-config and compile with gcc-3.3

OOo herd: I'm assigning to you, instead resolving invalid, since I do not know if you want to track this.
Comment 2 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-21 06:59:07 UTC
Carlo has already pointed out the reason, OOo 1.1.2 has security problems (which are not there in versions <1.1.2) so it won't come back into the tree. Sorry. Like carlo already said: Use gcc-config to change your compiler version for the build of OOo.

OK, thanks.
