Just noticed while translating the bootloader configuration page in the handbook that the vga statement is for 2.4 kernels only in regard to getting framebuffer working. There is no mention of gensplash which is used in the 2.6 kernel as default. Or that you can use the 2.4 default setup if you deselect support for gensplash from the 2.6 kernels.

Needs to be rewritten as if people use the dev-kernel the instructions are incorrect and probably will cause confusing when framebuffer isn't working.

I'm not sure what the essence of this bug here is; could it be that it's a duplicate of bug #67897 ?
