It's quite confusing that to print under the stable gimp, one requires a masked package. So it would be good to have a note on this.

I also have problems with gimp-2 and gimp-print>=5. I need gp>=5 for my printer to work but gimp-2 says the print module segfaults on the console and doesn't display a print dialog when i click "print..."

gimp-2.0.4 requires gimp-print-4.2 or higher, which isn't masked.

Really? Guess I'll have to file a bug that gimp-print 4.2 was broken with gimp-2 here. And the documentation gimp-print installs is also apparently wrong.
