None of the tools in gentoolkit needs ncurses AFAIK, and I just tried, I can install it with ncurses removed without a problem. Could you post the error you get? Okay more info... gentoolkit-0.2.0_pre9 depends on dialog which in turn depends on ncurses. So to be correct it is not gentoolkit that failed but dialog during my gentoolkit emerge. Looking at my log, I had ncurses-5.4-r5 installed when dialog failed. I don't remember the exact error but it said something about ncursesw so I emerge ncurses which reinstalled ncurses-5.4-r5 after which dialog/gentoolkit emerged okay. So it appears that my ncurses install got messed up. The original install of ncurses-5.4-r5 was 2 weeks ag during an emerge system. Perhaps something I emerged messed with the files. Any suggestions on how to track that down short of resinstalling each package one at the time :) sounds like mismatch of USE=unicode and ncurses re-open when you have `emerge info` and the build error |
