Description Mark Purtill 2004-10-13 12:51:47 UTC
Filed as <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=264232> upstreeam:

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041012 Firefox/0.10.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041012 Firefox/0.10.1

It used to be (as of 0.9.3, I think) that control-k cleared to the end of the
line, as in emacs. It now jumps to the search bar, whether in the location
input box or in a text box. Could there at least be an option to restore the
old behavior?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Hit Control-k
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Cursor moves to search box

Expected Results:
Text box or location toolbar clears to end of line

Built using gentoo ebuild mozilla-firefox-1.0_pre-r2.

FYI, the bugzilla bug <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=264232> now has a pointer to <http://kb.mozillazine.org/index.phtml?title=Emacs_Keybindings_(Firefox)>, which explains how to fix the problem. (If you get a page that says "there is no text", make sure bugzilla didn't cut off the trailing ")" in the URL.)

I don't know if that means this bug should be closed or not.

This is an upstream decision, not a bug
