Description giggles1 2004-10-12 14:31:11 UTC
This problem just recently started out of the blue. I use konsole (KDE) for my console, and often times (but not always) applications that start up do not start up with the correct size. dispatch-conf for instance, will often start up in the middle of an uncleared console, making things impossible to read. I will attach a screenshot of vi starting up using only half the console. Resizing the console fixes the problem for a short time, but it will usually happen again some time later.

env shows that

TERM=xterm

I have tried re-emerging ncurses, kdebase, glibc, bash, etc. but so far cannot find a fix for this. *Any* suggestions are welcome.

Reproducible: Always

what version of baselayout and do you use RC_NOCOLORS ?
Comment 3 giggles1 2004-10-13 16:55:04 UTC
Hi spanky,

I am using baselayout 1.11.1 (for the wireless config stuff) and I have no idea what RC_NOCOLORS is. It does not show up under env, or in any files in /etc or /etc/conf.d. What does it do and where is it set?
Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-10-13 16:57:17 UTC
i broke this in 1.11.1 but fixed it in 1.11.2
