The complete build.log is 23MB, so I'll not attach it. But as far as I can tell, only this function and

Source/WebKit/CMakeFiles/WebKit.dir/UIProcess/API/glib/WebKitNavigationPolicyDecision.cpp.o

are failing.

Cheers.

Compress it, then attach it, please.

That's a build.log of electron, not webkit-gtk.
Comment 4 N. Andrew Walsh 2018-11-30 12:42:55 UTC
d'oh. That was dumb. Sorry. I'm having similar problems there. Anyway, here's the log for webkit-gtk :(

You generally need to post your emerge --info too with any bug report about a package. However, I've noticed the issue without.

Initial investigation suggested, that somehow WebKitEnumTypes.h (generated from WebKitEnumTypes.h.template with glib-mkenums) doesn't have WEBKIT_TYPE_NAVIGATION_TYPE, WEBKIT_TYPE_FIND_OPTIONS and more in your build.
Yet glib-utils is in DEPEND of the ebuild, thus you should have glib-mkenums and have it work. Despite that, that generation in your build.log outputs:

/bin/sh: glib-mkenums: command not found

This shouldn't be possible, unless you've messed something up on your system about it. Please investigate what's going on with your dev-libs/glib-utils package and /usr/bin/glib-mkenums in particular. This assumes you are completely on ~arch (remember, you didn't post emerge --info, so I can't be sure); otherwise glib-mkenums with stable dev-libs/glib and glib-utils comes with dev-libs/glib itself still.

Is there anything there that might suggest why glib-utils isn't working correctly? As you correctly surmise, I'm ~arch, and I have glib-utils-2.56.3 installed.
Comment 8 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2018-11-30 21:22:46 UTC
Well, do you have the binary?

What is output to
/usr/bin/glib-genmarshal --version
Comment 9 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2018-11-30 21:23:12 UTC
And output to

type -P glib-genmarshal
Comment 10 N. Andrew Walsh 2018-12-01 18:51:49 UTC
I've tracked down the issue. On my system, I had dev-libs/glib-utils::rindeal installed, rather than from the main tree. *That* version, for reasons I cannot fathom, did not actually install any files at all ('equery -f' for the package returned nothing), so I can only assume that the ebuild from that overlay is horribly broken.

I already have a bunch of packages from that overlay masked for being dysfunctional, but now I'm just going to mask everything except the one package I need (it's the only place I can find a binary package for pandoc; everything else requires a full haskell install to build), and inform the overlay maintainer.

Since, however, this is not a bug with main gentoo, please consider this issue resolved. Thanks for pointing me towards the offending package.
Comment 11 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2018-12-05 06:06:55 UTC
fwiw, his glib ebuild ships it all, because he doesn't understand why they are split into gdbus-codegen and glib-utils and thus doesn't bother with properly splitting them. In your case, you were probably using his overlay glib-utils, but not his dev-libs/glib, hence the lack of the tool. When I looked some time ago (but forgot to follow-up comment here back then), there was already a similar report about gdbus-codegen with the explanation that one shouldn't mix his overlay with main tree packages for such interdependent packages or something.
Of course I would say what he does is wrong, but it's his personal overlay, so..
