I'm pretty sure it's bug #671760 where latest elfutils requires >=binutils-2.32 to be active. You seem to have binutils-2.31. Can you test with 2.32?

I had both version installed (2.31 and 2.32) at the same time and the compilation failed.

Uninstalling binutils-2.31 and using binutils-2.32 solved the issue for me.
