I'm tryingh to compile GNOME but icu fails with:

checking for uint32_t... no
checking for int64_t... yes
checking for uint64_t... no
checking for wchar.h... yes
checking for library containing wcscpy... none required
checking size of wchar_t... 0
configure: error: There is wchar.h but the size of wchar_t is 0

it's a dep of Mono

pyrania, as you seem to be the only one maintaining this, you would do well to add a metadata.xml file with you in it.

Can you please report the output of "emerge info" ?

I've also just added icu-2.6.2 to the tree, which should also work to fulfill the dep for mono. Please try using that as well.
